Quality coaching, whether with elite athletes or beginners is about knowing what comes next. Assessing where you’re currently at, and deciding the path to the next level.

Having spent all of my working life trying to maximise my client's development, I began to realise I’d spent an enormous amount of time planning the future and not enough time documenting the journey.

Quality coaching, whether with elite athletes or beginners is about knowing what comes next. Assessing where you’re currently at and deciding the path to the next level. It truly is no different for beginners or professionals. The best coaches are the ones who can plan, prioritise and create a want to ‘buy in’ to the journey. Creating a team approach is vital for long term success, whether that's just a single coach and athlete, or a far bigger group who are responsible for different types of development. Strength and conditioning, Sports psychologists, masseurs etc. we all need to be part of the same plan.

However, coaches focus heavily on the future and discard the past. Athletes derive confidence and mental strength from knowing how far they've come, that it’s all part of the journey, the highs the lows and all that goes in between. Floc has made a massive difference to me in this respect. All my athletes and those connected with their team now have access to seeing the full journey, from day one of the project to the goal at the end. The simplicity of communicating, documenting and collaborating with Floc means we are all involved on a daily basis. With the added benefit of being able to take strength from the steps, we have taken so far on the journey.

The Floc tracker works equally as well for our development coaches enthusing the next wave of young players coming through. We work on an ethos of the happy triangle, happy players, happy parents and then happy coaches. Floc has enabled that to happen on a weekly basis. Our players and parents can see footage of what happened in the sessions including teaching points, playing footage of the group and in many cases individual clips too. Parents can see there is a structure to their child's development, it's in a simple format and is easily accessible. Our coaches have been blown away by the simplicity of posting and engaging within Floc. It takes 10-15 seconds of the session and the kids love it too, I mean which player doesn't love seeing themselves on the big screen!

The cool thing about Floc is that when you miss a session not only does the system drop you a “we miss you” email but you can go into the app and see what happened in the session. You constantly feel part of the community and the process.
